New Workshop Area
Over the past few years we have held many successful workshops in our downstairs Creative Space. As part of the renovation I decided that we needed a space within the store for some of the new workshops on the Blake & Taylor calendar.
Originally this area held the Blake & Taylor Cafe, then it became the Interior Design section and now it has been transformed into the new Workshop space. I absolutely love that we can now experience some of the workshops up here in the main store. Whilst we still hold our Paint Classes and other larger workshops downstairs this new area allows us to expand on workshops midweek. You can sit with your fellow students, meet new friends, enjoy the atmosphere of the store, listen to the music, and learn something new. Plus we treat you to morning tea!
So far the Beginners Crochet Workshop and Kinchako Bag have been held in this area and they have been great! I even brought my stitching group in one day to use the space.

So with a new workshop space we thought we would introduce some new creative classes for the end of 2019. The Walled Cushion Workshop proved to be popular and our first class was a success. We will be running this workshop again in the new year so if you want to join our waitlist just contact the store and we can take your details.

Here are some pictures from the first stage of the Kinchaku Bag Workshop, where students chose fabric and started to piece their design together. Everyone has gone off to do the slow stitching part and we will meet again at the start of November to put the bag together. I can’t wait to see all the different patterns and designs!

For November I have two brand new workshops on the calendar
Beginners Watercolour and Make Your Own Clay Christmas Decorations.
Liz has been painting watercolours for many years and I am sure you are all familiar with her artwork prints I have in store and on the website. This beginners class is perfect for anyone who hasn’t painted before or for those who just need a refresher. Learn about the different watercolour paints, brushes, and paper used for a beginner, as well as essential colour theory and mixing techniques to create beautiful flowing botanicals. You will be shown how to use your brush to create different patterns and textures as well as how to control the paint and create different watercolour effects. All leading to painting your own stunning floral card set with envelopes.
Visit the workshop page for more information and to book your place.
As we are leading up to Christmas I thought it would be nice to have a Christmas themed workshop. Come and enjoy some fun while creating your own beautiful clay Christmas decorations.
You will be given 500g of air dry clay to cut out your design, decorate and print with vintage lace patterns, stamps and your own mark making. This is ideal to create your own personalised set of approximately 12 -16 Christmas decorations either for your own family tree or as a gift for someone else.
All materials and equipment will be supplied including shaped cutters, vintage blocks for stamping and other knick-knacks to create texture.
For more information and to book a place visit the workshop page of the website.
We have a break from our workshops throughout December and January but we will back up and running in February 2020. Look out for new additions to the calendar including Walled Cushion, Kinchaku Bag and Oval Shade!
